Important Upgrade Notice: Transitioning to Wicket 9

From L98 a new version of the Wicket library is introduced that may affect customers having TMS and platform apps.

We would like to announce a significant upgrade to our platform, as we transition from Wicket 8 to the latest version, Wicket 9.
By transitioning to Wicket 9, we ensure that our platform is up to date with the latest security standards and best practices.

However, it's essential to inform you about some critical changes that will require your attention.

Advantages of Upgrading to Wicket 9:
  • Performance Improvement: Wicket 9 is engineered to deliver faster load times and improved overall performance, leading to a smoother and more efficient user experience.
  • Enhanced Security: Security is our top priority, and Wicket 9 comes with advanced security features that offer better protection against emerging threats. Rest assured that your data and interactions will be even more secure.
  • Modern Features: Wicket 9 introduces modern web development features and tools, ensuring that our platform remains at the cutting edge of technology. This means better support for modern web standards, making it easier to create and manage your content.
Important Information about the Upgrade that may require action:

Besides the need and the advantages of upgrading to Wicket 9, we want to be transparent about a significant change that may impact your experience.

  • Traditional TMS/Private apps: Any custom software developed using Wicket 8 components like TSI actions, SDK pages and Stepview panels will no longer work properly after the upgrade to L98. These applications/ components will need to be updated to ensure compatibility with Wicket 9. Please test whether your customised software is affected on your upgraded (non-production) environment.

    If you have a maintenance contract on your TMS and/or apps this update will be done as part of the contract. Please log a ticket with our support desk if you require assistance.
  • Marketplace Apps: If you have an app, you can check in the Planon Marketplace whether there is a new version of the app that is compatible with L98. Be aware that this will become available no earlier than 1st October. In that case, the app will automatically be updated during the Planon Live upgrade and the app will keep working after the upgrade to L98.

If no version compatible with L98 is present yet, please contact Planon support for information on when the new version will be available.
